NEW AUSSIES WELCOMED ON AUSTRALIAN CITIZENSHIP DAY
I recently attended and spoke to Canberra’s newest citizens at a special ceremony on Australian Citizenship Day where 35 people were conferred by the Governor-General, His Excellency the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd).
Australian Citizenship Day was celebrated with more than 3,500 people from 108 countries becoming Australian citizens at more than 80 ceremonies across the nation.
Australian Citizenship Day helps raise community awareness of the meaning and value of Australian citizenship.
Congratulations to all the new citizens for pledging their loyalty and commitment to Australia.
Where’s William Week
William Tyrrell was only 3-years-old when he disappeared. The NSW Police believe he was abducted and may still be alive.
The ‘Where’s William? Campaign’ was launched to provide the community with more information about little William Tyrrell’s disappearance with the aim of finding him and bringing him home to his family where he belongs.
In collaboration with the NSW Police Force and with the support of the Australian Federal Police, Bravehearts Inc. is working closely with William’s family to reach out to the community hoping to generate information that will assist Police in the investigation of William’s disappearance.
To help raise awareness of the Where’s William? campaign locals are encouraged to share the Facebook page and download the Where’s William? posters to put in shopfront windows.
Christmas Card Competition
This year I will be running my Christmas card competition again. Students in Prep to Year Three who attend local schools will have received an entry form to submit their design. This year’s theme is “I love Christmas because…” and entries need to be handed to teachers by 22 October.
