DECADES FESTIVAL 2015
Moreton Bay Regional Council has announced the final program for the 2015 Decades Festival being held at Pine Rivers Park in Strathpine on Saturday, 31 October, 2015.
Strathpine is going to ROCK! when Aussie rock legends Cold Chisel (performing a full, two hour show), The Living End and Something for Kate are joined by Baby Animals’ singer, Suze DeMarchi, taking to the stage as the sun goes down keeping the heat turned up well into the night.
We’ve got plenty of family fun throughout the day too with the announcement of our full line-up featuring world-renowned ABBA tribute band, Bjorn Again, and local Queensland party bands – The ReChords, The ERT Trio and The Hi-Boys who will kick start the Concert Zone from 1.00pm (Gates open: 12 noon).
Just 30 minutes’ drive from the Brisbane CBD, parking won’t break the bank with limited, all-day parking available on site for $5.00.
If you’d prefer to leave the car at home, Pine Rivers Park is an easy 3 minute walk from Strathpine Station and organisers have confirmed that all concert ticket holders will receive FREE rail travel by showing their tickets at any South-East Queensland Rail Station (please see the website for a full list of included stations).
Decades Festival isn’t just about the live music line-up. Commencing from 10am, we’ll be taking you on a journey back in time, celebrating all things funky and fun from the 1950’s through to the 1990’s – with FREE entry to the Family Zone for all to enjoy.
Activities and exhibitions featured at Decades Festival include vintage markets, amusements for the young and the young at heart, kid’s activities and workshops, and vintage fashion to name a few.
For the revheads and car enthusiasts, the Shannon’s Car Show and Shine is one of the exhibitions not to be missed. You don’t have to be a car show entrant to have fun though, as hobbyists and first-timers can come along to learn more about these fantastic machines as well as get advice from guest speakers and renowned industry experts.
Registrations for the Shannon’s Car Show and Shine are now open online and are just $10 per car (discounts available for clubs), with all proceeds going to the Rotary Club of Albany Creek. Applications close Friday 16 October, 2015.
Do you know someone with a resemblance to Bettie Page? Have you ever been told you were the reincarnation of Rita Hayworth? Decades Festival wants to celebrate you too, with the search for “Miss Decades” returning with the Pin-Up Competition at Decades Festival 2015.
Showcasing all the vintage fashion of yesteryear, the Pin-up Competition program will include plenty of tips and tricks for you to try at home as well as seeing the glamorous gals vying for Miss Decades show their style on the runway. Applications are now open – it’s easy and free to enter online, but be quick, applications close Friday 9 October, 2015.
There’s also roving entertainment with The Memphis Moovers, Tie-Dye and Daisy Chain Workshops and the “Love Handmade Crafternoon” reviving iconic crafts with hands on workshops and stalls by Love Handmade.
There will be plenty of food and drink options for purchase in all zones throughout the day and evening and don’t forget a hat and your water bottle, as there will be a refill station available in the Family Zone. ATM and Eftpos facilities will also be available. Concert ticket holders are encouraged to bring a picnic rug (no chairs), though keep in mind there may not be enough room for these later in the evening.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor, Allan Sutherland, said the Decades Festival was the perfect family fun day out.
“There is no better option in South-East Queensland, than Decades Festival which brings together some of the biggest names in Australian rock music at a licensed outdoor venue with all-day family-friendly events,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“With plenty of chill-out zones, shady grassed areas, awesome kid’s play areas and a fantastic display of classic and custom cars covering 50 years of motoring, there will be something for everyone.
“Located right next to the Strathpine train station, there is no easier way to get to the festival and get home without parking hassles of other big festivals.”
