Dec2014_SHOW SOCIETY NEWS

60th Show coming up in 2015
Show dates for 2015 are 5th and 6th July, which all pavilion entries closing on Friday 4th July.
With only 6 months to go before our 60th Show, the planning is really getting into gear.  Entertainment has been booked, stall holders are making contact to book a site, stewards are working on their schedules (or they should be!) etc etc.

A dedicated few have been holding working bees in the new administration building and it is looking really good now.   The front half has been painted and now the back half is almost ready to be done.  Then the kitchen cupboards can be installed, the new storage cupboards can be built and the lots and lots of lovely office furniture and equipment that has been donated will be able to come across  and then we will be able to ‘dress it up’.  Our sincere thanks to the donor of this equipment – your support is really valued by us all.  The structural engineer has finally given us the all important stamp of approval – this has been holding us up, but at least the building is now compliant with the current standards, and shouldn’t blow away!  (It hasn’t blown away in the past 100 years, but it might have in future which is why it is now braced to the hilt so to speak).
Our poor old top oval is looking very sad – the worst I’ve seen it I think in my 20+ years as part of the Association.  However, when it rains, hopefully the grass will bounce back, and we can get it into good shape in time for the show.  In the event that it doesn’t rain, we will have to get it into good enough shape so that it is safe for horses in the new year.

The ongoing electrical upgrades and water upgrades are continuing to make the grounds more user friendly.  The new back yards work of the Rodeo Sand Arena is progressing quite well – very hot for the workers though.  Thanks to Pony Club for allowing these fellows to use the shed and facilities etc. – I’m sure it has made their lives a bit more comfortable for the weeks they have been and will be here.
