Christmas Wishes…
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents and business owners of the Dayboro region a very happy Christmas.
I hope you all enjoy the Christmas break and get plenty of time to spend with your family, relax, watch cricket and eat slightly too much festive food!
If you are driving over the Christmas / New Year period, please be extra cautious on our roads and ensure you survive the drive.
I hope 2014 has been a memorable year for you and that 2015 will be even better. I have enjoyed serving our community this year and look forward to working with you again in 2015 – until the state election, and hopefully beyond!
Consultation re: Dayboro Rd & Mount Mee Rd
Many residents regularly raise concerns about the condition of both Dayboro Rd & Mount Mee Rd.
Now is the chance for you to have your say into what repairs and improvements need to be made to these roads. No issue is too large or too small to raise.
Please go to:
before 16th January to have your say.
I will be working with Department of Transport and Main Roads with the results of the survey to develop an Action Plan for these roads.
Reconstruction works on Mt Mee Road
Thank you to all residents for their patience during the re-construction of Mount Mee Rd. This work is now complete and both lanes are now open. The location of the works led to some significant design and construction challenges, which ultimately meant the road was closed for longer than we hoped.
Protection for The Great Barrier Reef
The Newman Government has introduced several key pieces of legislation that includes harsher penalties for individuals and companies that are caught damaging the Great Barrier Reef. These penalties include
A maximum fine of $711, 562 for individuals; and
$3.56 million or five years imprisonment for corporations
These amendments support the Queensland Government’s commitment to the Reef 2052 Long-Term Sustainability Plan to protect and manage the Great Barrier Reef for the next 35 years.
Public Transport Users Save 5%
Public transport passengers now have more to smile about with a 5% reduction in fares for all train, bus, ferry and tram users which came into effect on 3 November 2014. This is the first time in Queensland’s history that there has been a state-wide reduction to public transport fares.
Queenslanders were consulted on whether you wanted more services or cheaper fares, and the results were loud and clear: you wanted a reduction in the cost of public transport. We were able to do this by finding $30 million in savings from the scrapping of the carbon tax. Our Government chose to re-invest these savings back into the public transport network.
In addition, there will be no fare increase in January 2015, further delivering on the Queensland Government’s commitment to easing cost-of-living pressures.
