Dec2014_Lake Samsonvale Multi-Use Trails One Step Closer

Residents and tourists will soon have access to multi-use trails at Lake Samsonvale (North Pine Dam) following a $68,000 funding injection by the Queensland Government.
Member for Pine Rivers, Mr Seath Holswich, said the establishment of the new trails and a new car parking area at Kobble Creek would encourage more walkers, trail runners, mountain bikers and horse riders to the area.
“This funding boost follows Seqwater’s landmark recreation review that has taken place across South East Queensland’s lakes,” Mr Holswich said.
“The $68,000 is part of the second round of funding aimed at delivering greater recreation opportunities for the Pine Rivers region.”
“These new facilities are a result of Seqwater’s Recreation Review, during which more than 3,700 people provided feedback helping shape the future of recreation in and around the Pine Rivers and Kallangur electorates.”
“This upgrade will no doubt boost visitor numbers and benefit local businesses in the Pine Rivers area.”
Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing Steve Dickson said the upgrade to Lake Samsonvale was part of a $500,000 commitment from the State Government to increase leisure opportunities.
“The funding delivers on the Government’s promise to grow tourism as one of the four pillars of the State’s economy,” Mr Dickson said.
Seqwater Chief Executive Officer Peter Dennis said Seqwater was committed to balancing the requirements of providing the region’s bulk drinking water while offering some of the region’s most enjoyable and diverse recreation experiences.
“We will work with the State Government and local councils to prioritise the implementation and funding of further recreation facilities,” Mr Dennis said.
