Dec2014_DAYBORO CWA NEWS
We welcomed the festive season with our annual Seniors Christmas Morning Tea which was held at the Community Hall on Tuesday 18th November. Despite a last minute change of venue, and a few welcome showers of rain that morning, we hosted around 70 members from our local community. Enjoying tea, coffee, sandwiches and home baked cakes, slices and biscuits we were all entertained by a fabulous performance from the Moggill CWA Choir. With professionalism and humour, their songs, routines and skits kept us thoroughly entertained – who ever would have thought that there would be synchronised swimming in the Dayboro Hall? We are grateful for the time they took to travel to us, doing what they love, all as volunteers.
Our raffles were once again well supported, especially our Art Union – a clock with a barometer and a temperature gauge for our first prize. Tickets are still available and will be drawn on 20th December – ph 0407 751 179 OR email us at cwadayboro@gmail.com and we will arrange to get tickets to you.
We also held a teapot competition that morning and enjoyed viewing the diverse range of pots that people put on display.
A special thank you to all of the Dayboro CWA ladies who spent hours preparing, serving and cleaning up, each doing what they love best as well, serving our community. The most unusual one was a pottery circle with a handle and a spout and it was very flat. There were lots of pretty ones, practical ones, totally impractical ones, an infuser shaped like a teapot and lots more.
Thank you to Patsy Cain from George Hartnett Funerals for providing beautiful floral arrangements for all of the tables, to Alison Hagaman for the wonderful Christmas Cake and to Stephanie Sinclair for making the adorable gifts for each of our seniors to take home. Last, but not least, to our President Alison Taylor who works tirelessly to ensure everything comes together – we are grateful for all that you do.
Our final get together this year will have happened before you get this edition, but we are planning a sewing day for January to make toiletry bags for our domestic violence projects. Our first formal meeting will be in February. All are welcome to attend – third Tuesday at 9.30 at the CWA Hall in Delaney Road. Wishing everyone in the community a magical Christmas and hoping you find some time to slow down, relax and enjoy time with your families. If you are passionate about our community, seeking support and companionship with like-minded women, and want the chance to make a difference, we look forward to welcoming new members next year.
