Dec2014_Dave’s Cancer Ride

Conquer Cancer have set up a website for me that you can send donations to.
Hello,
My name is Dave Alexander and I’ve been a resident of Dayboro for the past 30 years.  Those of you who know me know that I like to keep reasonably fit and do the occasional triathlon.
Recently I got a call from the Conquer Cancer Foundation asking if I’d like to participate in a two day ride in August next year to try and raise funds for research into causes and cures for cancer.
All of us know someone, whether they be friends or family, who has succumbed to this insidious disease.
I accepted the invitation to ride but need to raise $2500 to be in it, all of which goes to fighting cancer.  I know it seems a lot of money, but I’m pretty sure the people of Dayboro will pitch in for a good cause.  You only need donate a few dollars if you can and I’m sure we can reach the target and more.
Donations can be done several ways, an upfront donation, or so many cents per kilometre that we ride, (the ride is 200kms).
Another way you can donate is this:  I’ll be doing the Melbourne Ironman on 22nd March next year and my aim is to break the 13 hour mark.  I’ve done the last two Port Macquarie Ironmen with times of 13hours 10 mins and 13 hours 25mins.  (Seems I’m getting slower).  My idea is that if people can donate $1 for every minute that I’m under the 13 hour mark, it will not only help me get through the endless hours of training needed, but also be a very reachable donation for many people.  So if I completed the Ironman in 12 hours 50 mins it’s only a $10 donation and would give me a finishing time I would be very happy with.  I really would love for as many people as possible to get behind this, so please, help out any way you can.

If you click on that link and follow the prompts it should get you there.
I thank everyone in advance for their help, and if you see me out there pounding the pavement or with my riding clobber on, give me a wave and a shout, it all helps.
Thank you.
Dave Alexander.
