“The Curse of the Golden Dagger” – Sept 12 & 13
I bet none of you know that hidden somewhere in the township of Dayboro is “The Big Pyramid”. This is the setting for the comedy murder mystery being prepared for your amazement and amusement by the Dayboro Players. With the production getting very close – September 12th and 13th – the hectic business of getting ready is well under way. The cast and support staff put in many hours of preparation including such things as memorising their lines, learning where they should be when, making and setting up the stage set and creating sound and lighting effects.
This year’s play “The Curse of the Golden Dagger” sees Great Uncle Hubert inviting his friends and relatives to his 100th birthday party. Great Uncle Hubert was involved in discovering some of the great treasures of Ancient Egypt and his home the Big Pyramid is a tribute to these works. What follows is a tale of intrigue, greed, mystery and fatal encounters for at least one character. The play, written again specially for the Dayboro Players by local writer Sharyn Durley, promises the usual feast of laughter, local references and high drama. With a cast of 100s – well actually 10, an elaborate set and many lighting and sound effects the audience is guaranteed an entertaining night out. You will be challenged to see if you can work out the identity of the killer.
In keeping with the theme, anyone who wishes to come to play in appropriate Ancient Egyptian costume will be eligible to win the prize for the best dressed audience member each evening!
Of course, as usual the price of the ticket includes supper and the show. The bar will serve wine and beer.
For the first time this year the Players are offering a discount for early bookings. The discount price is $25.00 per person and applies to all tickets bought before August 31st. After this date the price will increase to $28.00 so buy your tickets early! Once again the Green Grape is the place to buy your tickets. Get together with your friends and book a table as seats are allocated as sold and you may not be able to sit together if you do not book together. There are no reservations without payment and unfortunately the tickets are non refundable.
Finally, if there is anyone who has an interest and some expertise in video, the Dayboro Players would be interested in talking to them about making a DVD of the show. Please call Stephen Durley on 0412 734 982.
