CATS won business achiever award
Pine Rivers Community Assisted Transport Service (CATS) won the Community Service and Non-Profit Organisations category in this year’s Pine Rivers Press 2008 Business Achievers Awards.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said CATS provided a door-to-door transport service specifically for older people or younger people with a disability who were eligible for HACC services.
“Their award was the result of a lot of hard work and dedication by the CATS Team,” he said.
Cr Sutherland said the CATS team was quietly confident about their efforts, but it was such a wonderful acknowledgement seeing “Community Assisted Transport Service” flash up on the big screen.
“All the CATS team were very excited and happy about winning the community service and non-profit organisations category,” he said.
“Its now onwards and upwards for the CATS team, who intend to keep up their good work to have a chance to win again next year!”
The CATS service, which employs seven staff and engages 48 volunteers to service more than 500 clients, encourages people to remain active and participate in their local community.
CATS’ vision is to enrich community connections, encourage independence and enhance quality of life. For enquiries about becoming a CATS client or volunteer, please phone 3480 6463.
