Progesterone

Congratulations! We are about half way through the sex hormones.  This month, we’ll look at progesterone, which is the last sex hormone that is primarily associated with women.  

WINTER IS COMING

It’s that time of year again, there’s a hint of winter in the air and the nights are certainly colder.  At this time of year we need to be particularly mindful of our older pets.  They certainly feel the cold and we need to make sure they have somewhere warm and protected to shelter from those biting westerlies and the frosty mornings.

Dayboro Remembers:

It certainly does – and I think it will also remember Anzac Day 2015 – the centenary of the ANZAC landing on Gallipoli peninsula – for a long time to come. Three new granite columns adjacent to the Dayboro Cenotaph were unveiled at the Dawn Service. The Service commemorated the lives of the fifteen World War One soldiers named on the Cenotaph who paid the supreme sacrifice. The columns are something very special.  Many hours of research by both the Dayboro War Memorial Association and our Society went into just the few lines that appear on each of the fifteen plaques but it is the skill of the stonemason who created this wonderful monument that really should be commended. I think the monument is better than anyone thought it could possibly be. 

 

Susan Volz and her family are now sharing their handcrafted homeware creations and giftware with you in their store at the Old Butter Factory.  Call in to captivated by their unique wares at Shop 1, 38 Williams Street, Dayboro.   

Another new business has opened in the Dayboro region. Sarah Ashby of Ocean View, who is known in the area for her involvement with the Ocean View Rural Fire Brigade and the Dayboro Players, has seen a gap in the market for administration and bookkeeping advice, particularly coming up to the end of the tax year.

The Samford Valley Garden and Lifestyle Expo will be held again this year at the Samford Showgrounds.

Many people asked us why we wanted to go to Reykjavik, and I have to admit that the combination of volcanoes, glaciers and wilderness fascinated us, including having seen the Top Gear episode in Iceland where they travelled over some amazing country.  However having been there I find my main memories are of the people, the history, the sagas, and the stories.
