Dayboro Remembers:  Private Donald Archibald Bond
Donnie was born on the family farm at King Scrub on 21 October 1894 to parents William Henry and Annie (nee Hamilton) Bond, the 6th of their 8 children.  He enlisted at Brisbane on 29 September 1915, the 2nd of the 4 Bond brothers to do so.  Fred enlisted on 25 August 1914, Winsley on 3 January 1916 and Tom on 20 August 1917.

I write in brilliant winter sunshine following some gentle and very welcome June rain.  Our grass supply is still good, although even this early into winter the feed on some Mountain properties has already been well utilized.  I guess that it depends on how the grass is managed, on how many feet are trampling it and on how many mouths are eating it.  It isn’t a simple equation.

July2015_Activities at the Samford Historical Museum…

Six ladies arrived at the Samford Historical Museum to be greeted by organiser Eileen and her off sider Irwin to enjoy “Explore Moreton Bay by Walking in May”.  Eileen informed the group about the walk and the brochure Samford Village Heritage Trail, which was launched on Queensland Day in 2009.  The Rotary Club of Samford and the Samford Museum worked with council to create the walk.
