Book now for Snip and Chip
Book now to have your cat microchipped and desexed for the discounted price of $10 at Morayfield next month.
Moreton Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland said council’s popular Snip and Chip program, that is subsidised by the State Government, is gearing up for another year.
“Last year more than 500 cats were microchipped and desexed at clinics throughout the region using the RSPCA’s Mobile Desexing Unit,” Mayor Sutherland said.
“This year, we’re starting the program with a week at Morayfield from March 22 and we’ll hold another five at other locations in the region over 2010.
Places are limited and residents can make bookings via an online form available at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au or through phoning council on 3205 0555.
Date confirmations and reminders will be sent via SMS, so residents are encouraged to provide a mobile phone number when booking.
Council will also offer a microchipping only service for cats and dogs during the Snip and Chip week between 10am and 2pm. It will cost $10 for registered pets and $22.50 for unregistered dogs or $20 for unregistered dogs belonging to concession card holders. The cost includes microchipping, submission to the national pet registry and council registration papers. Bookings aren’t necessary.
Residents are asked to bring cats in a secure cage and dogs on a lead to the mobile unit at Market Plaza, on the corner of Morayfield Road and Market Drive, Morayfield.
All new pet cats are required by law to be microchipped and registered with council. While desexing is not compulsory, it is recommended. For further information on pet ownership in Moreton Bay region please see council’s website at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au .
