BIG EXPERIENCES FOR LITTLE KIDS

The children at Dayboro Kindy are having a busy second term with a lot of visitors and new experiences getting the children‟s imaginations active.

But Kindy Director, Robyn Hoban, said one of the most beneficial things to come out of this term at the centre has been a big surge in parent involvement which is giving the children a little taste of a whole world of experiences.
“We‟ve had such a variety of things brought in for the children already this term,” she said.

“One dad came to Kindy in his semi-trailer to show the children and another broughtkindy_b_group_librarian_visit.jpg along a dairy separator and showed the children how to separate the cream from milk and make butter and ricotta cheese. We have another father who is a vet and the children have become so interested in animal anatomy that they are putting together a cow skeleton.”
The Kindy mums are not to be outdone; a couple have been helping the children to cook pumpkin scones, another took a hen and her chicks to Kindy for the day, and others gave the children a close look at a horse and carriage.

“All of these experiences will stay with the children and they will be able to draw on them in years to come. They may not act on them now, but one visit like this from a parent could plant the seed for the direction that the children choose later in life!”
