Computers Waiting

Attention all computer Geeks and possible students!   Our U3A is starting very soon, with its ’08 series of low cost, user friendly classes.  We meet generally at Bunya House in Arana Hills . Some courses run from a few days or several weeks spread over a generous time frame so as not to be too "heavy ".  We have had ladies over 90 yrs (young ) attending so all can be catered for generally, providing a very small membership fee and course attendance cost.  Our courses are run by people in your own age group in a friendly and helpful manner – no hard workload .

LOCAL SUPPORT GROUP RUNS CANCER INFORMATION COURSE

A local branch of Canhelp Australia Wide, a charitable non-profit organization, has been established in the Samford-Dayboro area as a result of the excellent attendance at the presentation by Darryl Jones at the Samford Bowls Club on November 10th 2007.

Darryl and wife Jan, founders of Canhelp Australia Wide were thrilled with the response from so many eager to learn from their years of experience in helping people overcome cancer and other health issues.

The following morning a meeting was also well attended by people who were willing to establish a group in Samford to learn more about Darryl’s program in order to help others as “Cancer Buddies”.

The first stage in the learning process will be a weekend course on 22/23/24th February 2008 entitled “The Philosophy of Cancer”.  This weekend will be held at Armstrong Creek near Dayboro. (Please note this is not a live-in weekend).

In this course participants will learn about such things as – What is cancer?  What causes cancer? and How to support someone with cancer to help them achieve a positive outcome.

Sessions will be presented by Canhelp Trainers, including Darryl Jones.  Course numbers are limited and bookings are essential.  Please phone Ian Wills (07) 3289 9220 or 0428 188 101 for more information or to secure your position.  Bookings close Friday 15th February.

Anyone wishing to know more about Darryl’s program can attend a free

DVD showing at Ian & Narelle Wills’ place.  Please ring Ian on 3289 9220 if you would like to see this.

PLAYGROUP Feb 2008

It was party time for the playgroup in December with the kids enjoying the annual pool party. Santa visited and was received well as were the gifts he was giving. The swimming and eating seemed to wear the little ones out and many went home very tired as did a few parents. It was the adults turn to party next with a delightful dinner at the Ocean View Estate winery. The AGM was held and with all the formalities out the way much of the local produce was sampled and lots of fun was had by all who attended. Now we must return to some form of normality.
