AUSTRALIA DAY 2009
Peter Dutton presented his Dickson Community Awards at Samford on Australia Day 2009, in an event organised by the Rotary Club of Samford Valley. These awards were presented following a Citizenship Ceremony, which saw some 33 new Australians accepting this land as ‘home’.
Dayboro resident, Marian Krause, was called up to accept an Award for her outstanding contribution to the Emergency Services, for her service to the Dayboro Ambulance.

Marian, currently President of Dayboro’s Local Ambulance Committee (LAC), recently received a Certificate and badge from the Queensland Ambulance Service, acknowledging her 30 years of service. This service began in the QATB (Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade) days, as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. Her voluntary efforts also included working as an Honorary Ambulance Officer and handling communications and first aid work when the Ambos were called out, as well as assisting with the office work – much of this was accepted as ‘normal’ and was expected at the time, in her capacity as wife of the then Superintendent, Gordon Krause.
Marian’s voluntary work with the Dayboro Ambulance still continues, but her voluntary work is not limited to this.
Marian is also a volunteer at Dayboro’s Day Respite Centre and a member of our Dayboro Grapevine crew. As part of the Grapevine team she capably handles the position of Treasurer, as well as assisting with the proof reading . . . and creating the crosswords that many readers look forward to.
Congratulations Marian Krause.
