Aug2015_Wintertime at The Powerful Owl Club of Samford
On Tuesday 23rd June it was a day to remember as most of our 21 attending members arrived at the club wearing hats in a variety of shapes, sizes, colours and origins. Berets in different colours; a black fez; chequered Sherlock Holmes hat; Vietnamese conical embossed hat; a cap of sorts, loosely entrapped in a rather long lacy flowing scarfl; even a disused bright red ice cream container sat perched on one gentlemen’s pate.
One of our ladies set about designing “hats/caps” for a few members. Flowered, striped or plain tea towels were cautiously shaped into a circle where they were adorned with a bunch of very colourful plastic flowers and placed on the appropriate crown.
So introduced and commenced the theme of the day “Winter Follies”. Descriptive words such as electric blanket, casseroles, soup and toast, hot chocolate, open fire, gloves, crumpets and many more certainly covered our main topic. First off we had a quiz of which the answers could be found within the word “WINTERTIME”. This type of activity always causes much chattering and nattering among the members, a good way to start the morning, never really a serious exercise, just lots of fun.
Next we have our weekly “passive exercises” to limber up our bodies. This week some of our generous ladies made delicious soups with garlic bread to compliment our day of celebrations. Very positive comments could be heard throughout the hall. Certainly enjoyed by all who attended. Thank you ladies.
