Aug2015_DAYBORO TENNIS CLUB NEWS
We would like to thank our fantastic community for supporting our Wimbledon Family Fun Day.
Email dayborotennis@gmail.com for more info or visit our Facebook page to keep up to date!
Russell from Ray White kindly donated financially to ensure we provided an affordable day for families.
Matchpoint kicked off the event with free kids games on the courts before our teams took over for the Wimbledon Cup Challenge.
Mini tennis, Jumping castle and Speed radar kept the children active whilst the wonderful Bead Lady “Tabea” encouraged some crafty jewellery making!
Our amazing volunteers kept the hunger monsters away with another tasty BBQ, and this year our new canteen worked a treat and allowed our helpers to enjoy the day too, as well as serve drinks, (Our previous dark and dingy canteen/storeroom was away from all the day’s activities).
Our raffle had many, many winners, thanks to the support of our local businesses.
Russell from Ray White also donated our top raffle prize of a mini break at cabins@theview. This is a beautiful retreat in Ocean View with spectacular views from the mountain.
Our committee would also like to thank the following for their support:
Dayboro Bakery and the Sausageman Dayboro for supporting our BBQ fundraiser.
Holistic Mamma, Dirty Hairy, Dayboro Cafe, Cabins@theview, Dayboro Pharmacy, Dayboro Post Office, Lawnton F+V Markets, Big W, Dayboro Lions, Chipmunks Lawnton, Laserzone Lawnton, Ray White, Councillor Bob Millar, A Little Bit Vintage, Tabea, Spiral21, Tennis Qld and Matchpoint Northlakes for some brilliant prizes on the day.
A special thank you to local company Heathwood Concreting for court cleaning. Our courts have been transformed by their team who donated their equipment, time and labour to clean up before Wimbledon.
Maintaining courts can be an expensive job which can put costs up for every member. Companies like Heathwood Concreting help us keep these costs down which is one of the reasons we can offer low cost memberships to our amazing community.

With the committee back to a full team (more are always welcome!) we have some exciting new programs for the club.
July saw our first monthly social tennis for adults who want some competitive play. We have nicknamed this “Not for Beginners” and it costs just $5 per player. First Saturday of the month from 4pm.
Fridays from 5.30pm is kids time! Fixtures for competitive play for children of all ages. Ideal if your child has lessons and wants to put their skills into practise, and a great opportunity for those not having lessons to just have a hit. Courts have fun games for those either waiting for their match or those who just want some active fun. Joining fee for this program is $25 (which also gives all the benefits of club membership for the rest of 2015) and $5 each week. Members do not have joining fee.
Outside of these 2 new programs we have some teen members looking for some new players! Each Thursday night from 6pm, (again, not for beginners), just fun, friendly competition for ages 16-19yrs (approx).
As a committee we hope to bring some more new programs to get our community active again. We have had interest to bring back “Ladies, Hit and Giggle”. At present no-one has come forward to co-ordinate this. If you would like to get back in the game and organise a morning a week (or a month maybe?) let us know and we’ll help to promote it.
