Apr2015_Presentation of ANZAC Display Resource

“The Peace Keepers  – A Poetic Tribute to The Spirit Of ANZAC”.
This is the culmination of 20 years of local poet, Russell Plunkett, applying his poetic passion to words that celebrate the “Spirit of ANZAC”.
In March 2014 local poet Russell Plunkett proudly launched his display in the Parliamentary Annexe of the Queensland Parliament.  The display, “The Peace Keepers – A Poetic Tribute to the Spirit of ANZAC”, created considerable interest and much favourable comment during the 2 weeks it was featured.
This kit was able to be viewed at last year’s Dayboro Show and again generated interest with regard to an idea of many groups or businesses combining to ‘sponsor’ the cost of this kit – to enable the school to have it available as a teaching resource.
Thus, here we are in 2015 and, in time for the lead-up to ANZAC Day 2015.  Dayboro State School was presented with this kit that will be able to be used each year as a learning resource and display for ANZAC-related teachings.
The kit includes display boards featuring 12 ANZAC-themed poems overlaid on a specially selected photo that matches the subject matter of each individual poem.  Also included is a book with the smaller version of each poem (and photograph) on quality gloss paper.
But wait . . . there’s more . . . . In order for the students to be able to learn to appreciate the rhythm of the poetic verse, there are recitations of the poetry included on a CD, as well as a DVD with historic subject matter.
The sponsors who made this presentation possible, were:
me. Property Sales,
Dayboro War Memorial Association,
Dayboro Sherrif’s Fund and
Dayboro Grapevine.
