Apr2015_OLD MILL ANIMAL HOSPITAL PET OF THE MONTH

This time our pet of the month is Dr. Annika’s very own Pharaoh Hound, Australian Supreme Champion Sleykh in Central park, aka “Foodie”.  Foodie has had a stellar show career, winning multiple Best In Show awards, as well as Best in Group and Best of Breed multiple times at the Sydney Royal, Melbourne Royal, and of course Brisbane Royal Shows.  Foodie has taken a step back from the show ring this year, to concentrate on a new ‘career’ as a mum.

Dr Annika imported frozen semen from a top winning Swedish Pharaoh Hound and surgically inseminated Foodie. This resulted in a successful pregnancy, and finally Foodie gave birth to 12 little munchkins, without any assistance at all!  She is proving to be a super-mum, and all the babies are growing at speed.  We are looking forward to them growing, attending our puppy preschool, and going on to have successful careers as show dogs as well as sofa-hogs.  Pharaoh Hounds are a very rare breed in Australia, with fewer than 100 of them in the country.
