Change in Eligible Entry Age
As you may have heard, there has recently been a change in the age of the Eligibility Age Cohort for entry into Prep and Kindy.
These amendments allow principals to consider children born in July for early entry to Prep.  Not all children who turn five years of age in July will be eligible as the child must also be considered by the principal to be ready for education.
As a result, the Queensland Kindergarten Funding Scheme (QKFS) is now available for children who turn four years old by July 31, and who attend an approved Kindergarten program.
This means that parents/guardians of children with a July birthday now have the choice to either enrol their child in Kindergarten in the year they turn four, or as was the case previously, in the year they turn five.
Parents are encouraged to discuss their child’s enrolment with their Kindergarten program provider or school principal.  Please pop in to see us or call to discuss your options if you have any queries about your child’s enrolment.
