HAPPY EASTER
On behalf of my family and staff I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a safe and happy Easter break.  Please take care on the roads when travelling and remember to plan rest stops every two hours.

ANZAC Day
ANZAC day is an integral day of commemoration of the 1915 landing at Gallipoli.  This year marks 99 years since the landing, giving us the opportunity to pay our respects to the Australians who have given their lives for our country. ANZAC Day is also a day to recognise those who are currently serving in overseas operations, as well as our veterans of previous conflicts.
To show your support for our troops this ANZAC Day you can consider donating to the RSL’s Australian Forces Overseas Fund, which provide care packages to Australian troops biannually.  To donate go to www.rsl.org.au.
As always there are a number of services in the Dayboro community including:
Dayboro War Memorial Association
5.15am: Dawn Service, Memorial, Roderick Cruice Park,
Williams Street, Dayboro
9.30am: March, McKenzie St (starting Dayboro Hotel)
to the School, then walk or bus to Showgrounds.
10.00am: ANZAC Day Service, Memorial,
Dayboro Showgrounds

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UPDATE
Over the past few months the Abbott Government has been working hard to ensure we deliver on our election promises. I’ve been meeting with health stakeholders and patients to ensure that our health services remain first-class.
Not many people are aware of the vast changes that have occurred in the health space over the past ten years.  The Commonwealth Government now contribute $62 billion a year towards health care and that excludes the money from states and territories and Private Health Insurance.  In total our country spends about $140 billion a year and it is growing fast.  The previous government threw money into extravagant projects, like the GP Super Clinic model, however their delivery on these projects failed – with most of the promised clinics not open or not built.
At the same time as money was being wasted, Alzheimer’s for example has increased 170% over the last ten years, and is an enormous issue for us as we grow older as a nation.  This government is all about making decisions that help Australians, and that is what we will be doing in the health portfolio over the coming months and years.

DICKSON COMMUNITY AWARDS – NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN!
Do you know an outstanding local individual or group?  Why not nominate them for a Dickson Community Award?  The Dickson Community Awards recognise those local heroes who give their time to help and serve the community.  The awards are presented in conjunction with the citizenship ceremony on Australia Day and each year we discover more exceptional residents.  If you would like to nominate someone for an award you can download the form from my website peterdutton.com.au or, alternatively, you can contact my office.

I have a 6 x 9m marquee available for community organisations to hire, free of charge.  If you are interested in hiring the marquee for your community event please contact my office on 3205 9977
