Apex Update March 08
Hello there again.
Apologies for this long overdue update but the club has been running “deep and silent” for a number of months following a minor administrative oversight that caught the attention of the Queensland Department of Fair Trading… By the time you are reading this we should be in the clear, or visiting the secretary in the big house.
Welcome back Lonneke Bevan, who recently went to Europe under our sponsorship, if any of the photographs of the touring President’s Badge are suitable I’ll share them with you in the next Update.
Relay for Life fundraiser was a torrid night of service work that challenged even the stalwarts of the Apex Bar Crew, thank you to Kathryn, ‘Tash and Jackie who stepped up to give us a hand. Future fundraisers in the village should note that a $200 float lasts about 5 minutes when everyone is carrying $50 notes and $1200 is a more reasonable sum – see ECU for further details. Congratulations to Kirsten & Luke on a splendid evening.
With cooler weather ahead and people lighting fires to keep warm, now is the time to service your smoke alarms before you really need to rely on them. On the first weekend of April the Apex Club of Dayboro is offering to service/replace alarms for the elderly and infirm. Please see advert on page 36 and posters for details.
Rumours abound, of a bloke looking a lot like me, being seen in a rival publication presenting a cheque to the Scouts for $1200 toward their Centenary Camp in Samford. Though I’m grateful for the publicity it galls to be called “John” all evening.
Regards
Mark Rushton
(President)
