Anzac Day – Dayboro Style
There was no controversy at Dayboro’s ANZAC Day March – just a tremendous amount of respect and our strong sense of community. Those that can’t make the walk up the hill, ride in the jeep. Those that are able to, stride it out up the hill.
This includes descendents taking the place of veterans no longer with us – with the piper and drummer keeping pace. School children, and community groups also proudly march to show their respect.
Flowers aplenty are laid at the memorial, with provision for community groups to acknowledge the sacrifices of these servicemen, and also for many families to have their departed loved ones individually acknowledged as they come forth with their tribute.
Former local identity, Russell Plunkett, comes back to Dayboro to recite some of his ANZAC themed poetry. All this and perfect weather too!
