June2014_”UNWIND IN THE VINES” with Troy Cassar-Daley

One of Australia’s most popular country superstars, Troy Cassar-Daley, is stepping out of his comfort zone for a special “Unwind In The Vines” show at the Ocean View Estates Winery on Sunday 15th June.  Occurring in the midst of his shows with Adam Harvey on The Great Country Songbook tour, this event will see Troy accompanied by The Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band, performing everything from country hits to swing legends.

“It is daunting but I love the experience. This whole concept was an idea that came from performing some swing tunes at the Brisbane Christmas Carols with the big orchestra and string sections, but I never got to do more than 2 songs. So I mentioned to Barrie Gott (Conductor of The Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band) that it would be great to do a full show in that swing style, and what eventuated was a double show, the first half performing swing numbers, and the second half performing my country hits”.

Troy wants the audience to have the full experience of the music, even swapping his trademark country attire for a debonair suit. “It shows respect for the music” Troy said.

Unwind In The Vines is a unique event where guests can experience the wonderful food and wine from the Ocean View Estate Winery, and also enjoy music from their favourite artists in a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

“The event is perfect for families, and I really want to give the audience something different.  It is also a wonderful opportunity to showcase the kids in the Queensland Youth Orchestra Big Band. They have so much talent and confidence!  I really have a ball performing with them. It is also great for them to be exposed to different kinds of performances and they really get a kick out of doing these shows.  Barrie (Gott)  makes everyone feel really comfortable and I would love to do more performances with the QYO, perhaps a tour out west to extend their experiences” Troy said.

Sharing the stage with Troy will be Estate favourites The Redsell Brothers, and The Winter Of Reason (who will be releasing an EP on the day).  The event will be hosted by Laurel Edwards, presenter for The Great South East, and wife of Troy Cassar-Daley.

“The swing show at Ocean View Estates Winery actually grew out of a Great South East story that Laurel did a while back, when she mentioned to the estate owners, Kate and Thomas, that it would be a great venue to get me out for a show. My first thought was that I would like to get Laurel involved, and also to bring out the “big band”.  Laurel and I shared the stage when performing with the Qld Pops Orchestra a few years back, and it will be great to get her up performing with the QYO at this event. It is great to be able to share the stage with someone you love.” said Troy.
