May2014_New leasing policy for community and sporting facilities

Moreton Bay Regional Council will transition to a new region-wide community leasing policy from 1 July, 2014.
Mayor Allan Sutherland said it would bring together three different tenure arrangements from the former council areas into one new policy.

“There are currently more than 250 agreements in place for the lease, licence and management of council-owned facilities across the Moreton Bay Region,” Mayor Sutherland said.
Council has been reviewing these arrangements to determine the most consistent approach to leasing, licensing, and maintenance of community and sporting facilities in the region.
Mayor Sutherland said council had worked hard to keep costs as low as possible, while delivering well maintained facilities for the tens of thousands of local residents engaged in sport and community groups every week.
The new community leasing policy will begin implementation from 1 July 2014.
Council will be working with community organisations to help transition to the new arrangements over the next two years.
A letter and factsheet has been sent to directly affected groups early in April, with information about the new policy.
