Here is a "before" shop of the Movember crew that is rising to the challenge here in Dayboro, to fundraise and promote awareness of health issues faced by men.  Meet Reece, Ron, Denis (F), Denis (S), James and John.  We will show them with their moustaches in next month’s Grapevine.

Ron Ellis and his team have signed up for the 2008 Movember challenge.  They will be growing moustaches to raise awareness of men’s health issues.  Some have decided on a particular style whereas others will just play it by ear!
As well putting the spotlight on men’s health issues, Movember is also about fundraising for this cause.  Please put some money in the tins to support their efforts.  Collection tins will be placed around town – they will definitely be at the Matilda Service Station and Dayboro Power Equipment.  They will also be holding a Sausage Sizzle on Friday, 28th November – from 2pm to 6pm.  (See below right)
Funds raised go to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia and beyondblue:  the national depression initiative.
Our men-folk are generally reluctant to access health services or to have regular medical check ups.
Did you know that men access health services 30 to 40% less than women?
For this reason the prevention and early detection of many common diseases is far less effective than it could be.
Whatever the reason e.g. Too busy;  She’ll be right.;  A previous bad experience with a health service;  Preferring not to know what’s wrong – believing it will simply go away;  OR just denial about their health issues . . . .  The consequence of these actions (or rather, lack of action) is diagnosis and treatment at a later stage than is optimal – not good mate!  To find out more go do the website:
