ANZAC DAY REPORT

(This section was inadvertently left off the article appearing in June edition. Our apologies to Richard Hawkins and to the people mentioned in this part of the article.)

A special thanks must also go to local music teacher Alison Chambers who again volunteered her time to put the band together. This year we gave Alison a bit more notice and the response from those pupils and ex pupils who participated last year was immediate and as well musicians from further afield and even a Mum volunteered allowing practice to begin much earlier than last year and the performance was over and above expectations. A heart felt community thanks for Alison and the 25 young people who participated.

They were: On flute: Daan Bevan, Daisy-May Denny & Morgan Mobis. On Clarinet: Lucie Allcock, Megan Edwards, Dayle Easlea, Kodi Lake & Jodie Wagner. On Alto Saxophone: William Henderson. On Tenor Saxophone: Eva Bevan & Jesse Easlea. On Trumpet Lonneke Bevan, Jack Denny, Daniel McKeown, Ben McPherson, Harry Thompson & Sedelle Wagner. On Trombone: Edith Bevan & Mikayla Easlea. On Percussion: Ashley Lake, Jeremy Lake, Elliot Morrison-Rose, Max Morrison-Rose, Rebecca Thompson & Gray Wagner. Local young vocalist Jade Naylor also volunteered to lead the singing along with members of the combined churches choir. Thanks also to the school who loaned musical instruments and the band room for practice.

Twenty attended the annual Lions Diggers Luncheon this year and we thank the Dayboro Lions Club for giving us the opportunity to get together with other returned people and their families, many of whom only meet on these days and Anzac Day. Thanks to Kay, Penny and Lexy and the footy club for providing an excellent meal and venue. Most enjoyable. Also thanks to the Lions and in particular Ian Flinders, we had a P.A. system that allowed the huge crowd to be able to hear the service.
