Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd said she was delighted that Lawnton based retail chain Super Retail Group has made it through to the State finals of this year’s Safe Work and Return to Work Awards in the ‘Return to Work: Employer Achievement Award (large employer)’ category.

Super Retail Group, includes nationally-recognised leisure brands such as Amart Sports, BCF, Rebel, Ray’s Outdoors and Supercheap.

After visiting Super Retail Group’s Distribution Centre in Brendale, Ms Boyd said the business set the standard for health and safety culture in other workplaces.

“Businesses like the Super Retail Group are really making a difference in improving our workplace safety and return to work culture and helping to prevent workplace tragedies,” Ms Boyd said.

“The awards acknowledge the great work of these individuals, businesses and workplaces and show the rest of Australia what great innovators we are here in Pine Rivers.

“No one in Queensland should say goodbye to their families in the morning worried they might not return home safely.

“I know firsthand that reducing workplace injuries also improves the business’s bottom line and it is evident from the systems in place that Super Retail Group understands this.”

Treasurer and Industrial Relations Minister Curtis Pitt will team up with Safety Ambassador Shane Webcke to congratulate the finalists for their achievements at the awards ceremony in October.
