Aug2015_MORETON BAY PLAN BACK ON TRACK

Consultation period closes 21 August.
State Labor MPs have met with Moreton Bay Regional Council representatives to continue community consultation on the draft Moreton Bay Regional Planning Scheme.

The meeting followed the State Government’s approval of council’s new draft planning scheme to proceed to the public notification stage.
Member for Pine Rivers, Nikki Boyd said one of the Palaszczuk Government’s first acts was to meet with Moreton Bay Regional Council to see how the region’s new draft planning scheme could get back on track.
“After the bullying tactics by the previous LNP Government, this meeting shows that the Palaszczuk Government is working in partnership with council and the community on this plan,” Ms Boyd said.
“I know that community groups and residents have been eager to provide their views on the draft plan because of how it will shape our growing region into the future.”
Member for Kallangur, Shane King said he hoped local residents would take up the opportunity to make submissions.
“I encourage people to make the most of this important community consultation period and have their voices heard,” Mr King said.
Council’s Planning Chairperson Mick Gillam said the new draft planning scheme outlined a vision for the region over the next 20 years.
“The draft scheme sets out a vision that balances growth and development in the region while providing a significant boost to the Central Pine area and protecting our local environment,” Cr Gillam said.
The consultation period runs until Friday 21 August 2015.
More information on how to make a submission is available at www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au
