DECENDANTS OF THE 15 FALLEN
The Dayboro War Memorial Association reported in the April 2014 Grapevine we would be installing memorials to the men from the Dayboro District who paid the supreme sacrifice during WW1 and were killed in action.
The 15 men were – Thomas Baxter, Donald Bond, Joseph Boyle, Herman Buhmann, John Castree, Thomas Chambers, Martin Coohey (aka Ah Que), Charles Easlea, Robert Easlea, Richard French, Hugh Hamilton, Frederick Harmening (aka Hatton) Charles Kenman, William Stubbings and Thomas Waller (aka Walker).
These memorials will be unveiled and dedicated at the Dawn Service. We would like to give anybody who is related to or has a connection with any of these men the opportunity to participate in the service. Please contact Richard Hawkins on 0418 735 626 or Pamela Miller on 0408 199 189 if you would like to be involved.
During our Dawn and Main Service this year a small re-enactment will be staged with a life sized mock up trench with 15 of our local scouts dressed in WW1 uniforms with replica .303 Lee Enfield rifles. The rifles were made at our local Dayboro Mens Shed, turning scrap timber into very exacting replicas. THANK YOU MEN FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO THIS PROJECT.
A display of war related memorabilia will be on show in the pavilion after the main service for any interested people.
If you have any memorabilia you wish to contribute please contact us.
