TRAILRIDERS NEWS Oct 2008

Our Club’s August ride was the annual ride to Graham and Lorraine Court’s property, and is looked forward to by all due to the spectacularsites along the way.

The ride started with 25 but, unfortunately, one rider had a fall resulting in a broken arm, and four visitors had to pull out when a horse became lame.  Our thanks to Graham and Lorraine for their hospitality, and also to Laurie, Phyllis and Malcolm Stubbings who lent a hand clearing a track down the mountain prior to the ride.

We also enjoyed a weekend ride to Linda Kruger’s property – which is towards the Somerset Dam.  It requires taking a lot of gear for the riders by road, which was generously done by Chris Bailey, Chris Giles, John Schuhmann, Debby and Gavin Kirkwood, Simon and Peter.  Without them the ride would not be possible and we extend a big thank you to each one of them.

Due to the drought it had been five years since we last rode to Linda’s, which is approximately 45klms each way, with some steep hills to overcome, however it is a really great ride.

Getting through the forestry is again causing some problems so we are not sure how many more times we will be able to do this ride.

For details on our BIG OCTOBER RIDE, see separate article on page 1.

President.
