Dayboro & District Rural Fire Brigade
It’s official – Bushfire Season has arrived,
This year, there is a likelihood Queensland will experience a longer than normal season, with above average bushfire activity expected across the State.
Do you live within a few kilometres of bushland?
Does your local area have a bushfire history?
Is your home built on a slope?

Do you have trees and shrubs within 20m of your house?
Is your ‘Bushfire Survival Plan’ more than one year old?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions you may be at risk in the event of a bushfire.
Have you decided whether you will ‘stay’ or ‘leave early’?
Download your ‘PREPARE ACT SURVUVE’ brochure and ‘Bushfire Survival Plan’ from ruralfire.qld.gov.au
These brochures will assist you in preparing your property, yourself, your family and pets.
VCE’s Lee & Nadine assisted Samsonvale Rural Fire Brigade with their Open Day & Landowners Workshop.  Also supporting the day were members from Moreton Bay Regional Council, Land for Wildlife and South East Queensland Fire and Biodiversity Consortium (SEQFBC).
IF WE ALL DO A LITTLE, WE’LL ACCOMPLISH A LOT
VIP – Tony Wagner
(Volunteer Info Profile)
Tony Wagner joined the DDRFB in 2012 when he moved to Dayboro.  Although growing up at Brighton, Tony has always had an association with the Dayboro District with his first visit to the annual rodeo with his parents at 9 months old.
As a teenager he used to work during school holidays on Fogg’s Dairy Farm at Mount Samson and it was around this time Tony dreamed of one day living in the area.
Tony became interested in the Rural Fire Brigade whilst on the dairy, as Peter Fogg was the Fire Warden for the Mount Samson district.  He explained, “I remember at that stage Peter kept a big old yellow fire truck at his place and on occasions he used to take it for a short drive to make sure everything was operating, and of course I’d go along for the ride”.  However as Tony lived at Brighton, it wasn’t practical for him to join the brigade until more recent times.
Tony is a Senior Insurance Broker for Queensland Insurance Services with 20 years experience in the industry specializing in domestic, commercial and rural insurances.

He is also  an entertainer/musician who performs across Australia at various music festivals such as the Gympie Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival.  In 2010 Tony recorded his solo album, which was produced in Nashville titled “Nashville Dream”.
Tony will be performing in Dayboro on Saturday 4th October at the 2014 Dayboro Variety Benefit, which he is jointly organizing for a close friend suffering the debilitating condition Multiple Sclerosis.

the Wardens’ Word
***ALL FIRES-ongoing request***
The wardens for the areas below are requesting a courtesy call before lighting ANY fire please.  Even fires below the 2x2m permit requirements.  This is ‘not’ mandatory, just a safety precaution.  With conditions as they are, any smoke noticed is inspected.  So a quick call will save valuable time.  Thanks for your co-operation!
…DIDYANO?…
