Sept2011_Trophy Presentation and AGM

DAYBORO DINGOES

Well the soccer season is over and the balls have been packed away for another year.  Overall it has been another great season for our small club.
logo_db_soccer_100x73mm_10dpi.jpgFor some, the off-season means another sport, for others (like the author of this article) it means sleep-ins on Saturday mornings – aahh!.
The Dayboro Dingoes Soccer Club is now an established institution in our small community.  Within the last five years it has attained its own playing field and club house.  It is now well resourced and is financially strong.  These advancements have occurred largely due to the selfless work of our past and present committee members, all of whom are volunteers.  Many of our present committee members have volunteered their time for several years now with some, such as Caroline Oertel being heavily involved in the club for the last five years.  With this in mind, several have decided it is time to hand over the reins in 2012 and will resign from their positions at the upcoming AGM.
As the saying goes ‘many hands make light work’ and many positions from uniform officer to club president will need to be filled.  All key committee positions will be open.
Taking on a role in the club is a great way to meet people and a rewarding way to contribute to the Dayboro community.   Over the last few years the club has established procedures and practices that will make it easy for the incoming committee to pick up the reins.  While the Dingoes are currently a strong sporting club, it will cease to run if these positions are not filled.
The Dayboro Dingoes annual general meeting will be held at the Dingoes club house on Sunday 9th October at 12pm.  The AGM will be followed by the presentation of trophies to all 2011 players.  There will be food and drinks on offer so make sure you come down to socialise and celebrate the end of the season.  Various forms of entertainment will also be provided.
Participation bonds will be refunded on Trophy Day.  The $30 bond will be returned to those families who have been identified as having contributed to the club throughout the season.  Contributions have been documented in the volunteer register book.  NO REFUNDS WILL BE ISSUED AFTER TROPHY DAY as the treasurer must close the books for the year.  If you wish to have your bond returned to you before Trophy Day please contact Lauren Saville – dnlsaville@iinet.net.au to arrange this.
The current committee would like to thank all those who supported them in their roles this year and all the club sponsors for their valued support.  They would also like to thank those parents who have practiced the ‘Positive or its Pointless’ campaign this year by encouraging competitive play balanced with positive support and realistic expectations.   Enjoying the game and promoting sportsmanlike behaviour should always come first because in the end, the true benefits of soccer will only be felt if children enjoy the game, play it fair and play as a team.  For no matter how good we think our own children might be – it is a cliché – but there is no ‘i’ in team.
The 2011 AGM and trophy presentation provides an opportunity to celebrate the end of season and to set the foundations for a successful 2012.  Please see the Dingoes web-site for more information about the day and about the vacant club positions.  See you on October 9.
