DAYBORO LADIES BOWLS CLUB NEWS
BOWLS CLUB MEALS: With the Friday fortnightly meals, Barbeques will be back from Friday 16th September. This replaces the winter menu of Roast Dinners.
AUGUST FINANCIAL DAY: This day was sponsored by Anton Brown Funerals. Anton is a very generous sponsor who managed to attend on the day for lunch and hand out the prizes. C Toy’s team from Ruby Gardens won on the day and Audrey Ozanne’s Kallangur team were runners-up. The $25 gift voucher raffle went to D. Barber, Deception Bay. Jackie, Dayboro and Rose, Kallangur won the fruit and veg. Spiders went to Lorraine, Dayboro and Lorraine Clark, Kallangur.
AGM: This was held on 3rd August and congratulations to Sheila Close, President; Rosemary Bierge, Snr Vice President, Lorraine Petroff, Jnr Vice President. Dawn Heathwood, Treasurer and myself, Eleanor Williams, Secretary. Once again Edna Wruck is our Patroness. Thanks to all members who have taken on positions.
PENNANTS: This year Brighton asked us to make up a composite team as they also had difficulty finding the numbers for Pennants. We were in the 4th Division, and very proud to say we made it into the Semi-finals, only to go down to Aspley by 9 points. Well done to all who were involved.
FRIENDSHIP DAY 28 SEPTEMBER: This is a fun day, so if ever you wanted to try a game of bowls come along. You just need flat shoes, bowls can be provided. The cost is $5 which includes morning tea and lunch. Morning tea at 9am and Play begins at 9.30am. Contact Edna (3425 1119) to put your name down, or just turn up.
NEW YEARS EVE 2011: I know what you are thinking, but it will be here before we know it. Last year we trialled it and it seemed to be successful. We have learnt a few lessons from it and hope to improve this year. I know some people could not attend last year as they made other arrangements, so thought we would get in early so you can put it on your calendar. Once again Cliff (from Friday nights) will be providing the music. Barefoot bowls will be on again.
MIXED WEDNESDAYS: Just a reminder it is morning tea at 9.00am with play to begin at 9.30am. All welcome, just come along. Bowls are available – wear flat shoes. Just $5 to play – BYO lunch.
