“HARRY POTTER 7” (PART 2)
Saturday 17th September

Well, we had another packed Dayboro Lions Community Cinema movie house in August, which actually returned a small profit to be put back into the community.  Marj’s chocolate slices disappeared fast, and obviously the taste for home baked goodies triumphs over the mass-produced alternatives.  Included in the helpers were two school students, Grace & Riley, who were raising funds for a visit to help at a Cambodian orphanage.  Lions sponsorship of such as these with a mission involves inviting them to help with our community events, and a win-win situation prevails.  It warms the cockles of our hearts to see such enthusiastic youth with a passion for helping others.
The next movie is Harry Potter 7 (Deathly Hallows part 2) – it all ends.  Whilst this is an ‘M’ rated movie, and outside our normal fare of family-oriented wholesome stuff, it closes the sequence of our screening in Dayboro of each of the series as released.  Let’s all dress up for this finale!  Prize for the best effort.  Screening is on Saturday 17th September.
MEMBERSHIP INCREASING:

Membership is easy.  There are friendly monthly business meetings to discuss our activities, and dinner meetings open to all, with a talk of interest to the community.  We run community events, (movies, alarm necklaces, mobility hire services, Christmas activities) and give logistic support and some financial aid to those we identify in the district.  There is no pressure to attend or perform in our club.  We all do what we can.
The fees of $35 per ½ year – go towards seeding national and international ventures – prostate cancer research, East Timor support, catastrophe support, third world eye sight operations to name a few of very many.  It is good to see that instead of losing most of this money to the delays and enormous administrative costs of government appeals and big logo charities, this money is delivered directly to the needy by the network of Lions International.  Lions Clubs International is the largest service organisation in the world, with nearly 1.35 million volunteer members serving in more than 197 countries and areas.  An upcoming meeting will see the induction of another new member who is of a mind to help others.
Do you identify yourself with altruistic tendencies, with a concern for the welfare of the community and beyond?  Maybe you should join us!  email Dayboro.lions@gmail.com, or contact our president: 0402 479 644, or any other Lion.
ALARM NECKLACES
The Alarm Necklaces scheme, which gives comfort to family and friends as well as to wearers, is proving to be a heads-up to other Lions groups outside our area.  There has been publicity of  our scheme and we are pleased to be leaders in this initiative.  We have just purchased more of these potentially life-saving alert devices, and now field 30 of them distributed in our district.
….More Next Month
