Playgroup has been very busy in the past few months. We’ve had a day out at Trevena Glen farm, bought a new coffee machine, held a Tupperware fundraiser and had lots of fun activities.
Trevena Glen is a farm in Samsonvale which is open to visitors. The children enjoyed feeding the animals, having a hay ride, pony rides and learning how the farm works. We try to give our playgroup children the opportunity to visit Trevena Glen every year with playgroup subsidising some of the cost and providing lunch.
We are able to do this due to the efforts of our Committee, particularly Fundraising Coordinator Nikki Rayner. Apex (sadly now no more) helped out with the purchase of a new first aid kit, donating $150 to our worthy cause. If you are interested in contributing to playgroup funding in any way, whether it be toy donations or cash we would love to hear from you.
We hold regular fundraisers such as our recent Tupperware party. This is a great way for parents and carers to contribute to playgroup whilst receiving a benefit themselves. Funds raised from this event will go towards a day out for playgroupers to Chipmunks in the September school holidays.
Come and Join Us
We love to welcome new Mums / Dads / Grandparents/ carers to our playgroup. It is a very cost effective morning out, with the annual membership to Play group Queensland currently $40. There is an additional charge of $2.50 per family per playgroup visit, although the first three are free.
We meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9.30am behind the ECU Building in Williams Street. If it is raining still come along, as we have lots of indoor toys and dress ups (we will be inside the council building). We do meet during school holidays but not on public holidays. Our committee organises regular excursions and activities for member families. Our next excursion will be to Chipmunks in the September school holidays.
