Col. Simon Hardy.
The building had been relocated by Q’ld Gov in 2007 when Grovely Station was about to receive a major upgrade.  Renovations were carried out by members and the decision to create a wartime memories display in it was partially influenced by the existence of the A.I.F. camp at Grovely 1940-1945 and the movement of soldiers through the station. A Q150 grant and ‘Young for Old‘ fundraising made this a reality.
Manakins depict WW1, Light Horse, WW2, Vietnam, Navy, Air Force and Nursing.
Quite a number of local service personnel are featured throughout the display and others are recognised in files in our reference collection in the main museum building.  While we have a good collection of names of those who served, we are aware that due to the passage of time and no Honour Board for WW2 in Samford known of by Samford Museum members, some may have been missed and members welcome information from readers.  Donations of memorabilia are also welcome to allow for variations to be made to the display in the future
