– 4th year in Dayboro
The Ritz Performing Arts Centre is entering its 4th year in Dayboro and we are very excited to report on excellent results from 2009 and a great year looming ahead for us in 2010.
In 2009, our students performed in the Dayboro Day Parade through the main street in May with their very enthusiastic performance of “Brittania High”.
In June, one of our young ballet students had the wonderful experience of auditioning for the Paris Opera Ballet Brisbane season.
In July, most of our students had the great experience of performing at the Ritz 25th Anniversary Gala at Stuartholme Auditorium in Brisbane and then, in September, they all performed in our Annual Production at the Dayboro Community Hall and showcased all forms of Dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Hip-Hop.
At Christmas time, some of our students performed in the Dayboro Carols by Candlelight.
Our students also took Dance exams in Ballet, Tap and Jazz right here in Dayboro in November and we are so proud to report that we attained a 100% pass rate with extremely high marks awarded across the board.
All of our classes are taught by Mrs Karen Mellers and Mrs Rajna Barry both of whom have danced their whole lives (having trained at The Ritz in Brisbane and then at the world-renowned Brent Street studios in Sydney) and had professional dance careers in Sydney before coming back to Queensland to settle. They are accomplished triple-threat dancers with experience in all forms of dance.
We are hoping to add Musical Theatre, Singing & Drama classes to our 2010 timetable and would love to hear from anyone who may be interested in enrolling for these types of classes.
