Oct2013_U3A PINE RIVERS

The U3A Pine Rivers will be holding our monthly social and information meeting on Friday 18th October 2013 starting at 10.00am.  Our Guest Speaker this month is Ken Beer who is a BEEKEEPER. 

Given that our bee populations in Australia are under threat from several quarters, this will be an interesting talk and display – you can purchase some of his honey on the day too.  The event will be at Bray Hall Cnr Cooke and O’Loan Streets, Petrie.  Take the opportunity to socialize, meet new members, as well as booking for the theatre, bus trips and hear about our newer classes, walking and photography group activities. 

 

Remember to keep 15th November free for our Open Day.  Entry is FREE – visitors and prospective members are welcome.  This will be held at the Strathpine Community Centre, Mecklem Street, Strathpine, from 9.30am to 1.00pm.  Light refreshments are provided for a gold coin donation.  Support us by purchasing raffle tickets at the door. Our Course Co-ordinator, Jean Green, conducts a sewing class “Tips, Tricks, Techniques and Problem Solving” on Fridays at 9.30am to 11.30am in the CDU Strathpine Community Centre.  Jean is a very experienced dressmaker, quilt valuer and exhibitor and is happy to answer any questions about sewing in general.  Her next class will not be until 11th October due to school holidays.
