Oct2010 POLICE NEWS
On Wednesday 15th September break and enter offences occurred between 7.30am and 4.30pm at residences on Valley View Court and Bennett Road at Samsonvale. In both cases, entry was forced to sliding glass doors at the back of the house.
Jewellery and personal identification items were taken and a stolen credit card was used by offenders at Warner.
Any person with information in relation to these or other offences is requested to contact Dayboro Police Station on 3425 1200 or Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
Chances of recovering stolen property are increased if police have an accurate description. This includes property identification, such as engraving suitable items and recording brand, model and serial numbers. For all property items and particularly with jewellery, photographs are useful. Information on property identification methods and home security can be obtained from the police station.
Amongst the traffic matters raised at the station, there are two regular issues. One of these is the intersection of Bradley, Williams and McKenzie Street (outside the Crown Hotel). Even to local residents, but particularly to out of town drivers, this can be a little confusing. Remember that this is not a regular T-type intersection due to the ‘give way sign’ on McKenzie Street. It is always worthwhile being cautious at this intersection and not assuming that appropriate ‘give way’ will occur.
The second issue is parking around the town. ‘No standing’ signs are clear indicators of no parking, but a solid yellow line on the edge of the road also marks an area as ‘no standing’. Parking on the footpath in some areas, particularly in Heathwood Street outside the IGA causes a concern and a number of minor traffic collisions have occurred as a result of cars attempting to reverse out. It is an offence to park on the footpath.
Senior Constable Troy Nowitzki has recently been appointed as a Justice of the Peace so both or us at the station are now available to assist with JP services.
Dayboro Rural Watch AGM on Wednesday 20th October at Dayboro Bowls Club, commencing 7.30pm.
