Nov2012_REMEMBRANCE DAY 2012
The Dayboro Remembrance Day Service will be held at the WW1 Cenotaph in Roderick Cruice Park on Sunday the 11th November commencing at 10.40am. Organisation or private wreaths/floral arrangements are welcomed and all we ask is that you supply your own wreath.
There will be a light luncheon in the park after the service. This will be kindly supplied by Patsy Cains of George Hartnett Funerals Albany Creek. All welcome. The War Memorial Association has upgraded the lighting surrounding the Cenotaph by placing the lights in granite bollards on each corner of the landscaped area. This, as well as adding to the ambience of the place, will also have a practical purpose in protecting the lights from accidental damage. We have also had a protective coating applied to the sandstone components of the Cenotaph. This not only enhances the colouring of the sandstone, it will also protect it from staining and mould.
As our fundraising opportunities are scarce, we would like to thank everyone who supports the 2-UP on Anzac Day. The money raised from this event allows the War Memorial Association to maintain and upgrade the town’s Memorials, without which we would not be in a position to carry out any of these important and rather expensive tasks.
Richard Hawkins, Chairman
Dayboro War Memorial Association
