Not just a poultry club…

The recently formed North Pine Poultry Club Inc is a little bit different.  The concept of a poultry club, not just for serious poultry breeders, but a club for everyone, was the dream of local poultry fancier Sally Jones.
Sally and a group of local poultry keepers wanted a club where everyone felt welcome.  Anyone who had just a “couple of chooks” in the backyard had a place where they could go to seek help with keeping their feathered friends and to learn about the alternative rare breeds that are available.
p6_poultry_club_64x48mm_100dpi.jpgIt is the aim of the club to encourage everyone to keep, save and protect these heritage breeds for future generations.
After a few short months the dream is now a reality so come along to our next meeting to find out more about us.
The club meets at the Cedar Creek Public Hall on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7.00-9.00pm.  Each meeting has a featured breed, a guest speaker covering topics from showing, good husbandry, care in hot weather and when away on holidays and lots more.
There is a forum each meeting where members can ask questions and receive help about their poultry, and of course, a cuppa and chat afterwards to get to know each other.
Our inaugural show will be held in the Dayboro Poultry Pavilion on Sunday April 18 and all enquires about the show should be made to Bill Fenwick on 3285 2737.
Our membership is steadily growing and we are keen to increase it even further before our show.  All membership enquires should be made to Cathy Newton on 3886 7008 or just come along to our next meeting on Tuesday 16 March.
If you would like to receive our monthly email with upcoming events and details of guest speakers and topics just send us an email to northpinepoultryclub@gmail.com
