DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL:
Well, May is here.  The Rodeo will have been and gone so DAYBORO DAY FESTIVAL is just around the corner.  In fact, this addition of the GRAPEVINE will have a nifty insert for you for the day, with all sorts of interesting facts and info.  We hope all the residents of Dayboro and surrounds come to visit Dayboro Township on the day and, of course, go up to the show grounds and have a peek at the Antique and Collectables Fair.  This is still only $5 entry fee and well worth a look.  There will be some great displays up there as well.
A reminder to all sporting clubs
Saturday 30th the work gang will be putting up all the bunting for the NO PARKING that will take place on SUNDAY.  I know that as this is the 24th Dayboro Day Festival, you are all aware of the problems facing having matches on the Saturday before DDF, so this is just a gentle reminder in case it had slipped your mind.
LUCKY SQUARES:  ‘Buy’ your square today!
These are on sale prior to Dayboro Day because the prizes are to be utilized on that day!  Prizes will be drawn on Friday 29th May.  There are 2 prize draws, each prize being a helicopter ride for 1 person on Dayboro Day.  Chances are $10 each.  For more information contact Maria (0438 897 279) or Lexie (3425 2260).  The board of “Lucky Squares”, numbered from 1 to 100 will be at Rendezvous – Call in early to ensure you get your first choice of numbers.
DAYBORO CONVERSATIONS:
We are working hard to make DAYBORO CONVERSATIONS a place not to be missed on the day.  They will have heaps of interesting people discussing heaps of interesting things.  These include:
9.30 am  Guide Dogs for the Blind
– Learn about the journey of a guide dog from puppy to trained guide dog assisting vision impaired people of all ages.  Hear about their training and how they become confident Guide Dogs and family pets when out of harness.
10.30 am  Qld Parks and Wildlife
– See and learn about some wonderful Australian species with rangers from Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.  They will bring along pythons, lizards and other reptiles some of which you can handle.
11 am Dayboro  Ambulance
– CPR Demonstration by our local ambulance service.
11.30 am Uni of Qld Vets
– UQ Vets have been serving the local community and surrounds for over 25 years.
12 noon Jason Stankoski
– North Pine Poultry Club members will speak about backyard chickens and have live chickens on the day.
12.30 pm Qld Parks and Wildlife – as per 10.30am info.
1 pm Kumbartcho Nursery
–  Donna Farrell will talk about weeds which are a problem in all gardens.  She holds a  Cert III in horticulture and is known as the ‘Woodford Weed Woman’ because of her weed clearing at the Festival site.  Donna is a consultant at the Kumbartcho Nursery.
CALLING ALL KIDS:
Don’t forget to pick up your Kids Passport to FUN.  This year you can pick up your passport at DAYBORO CONVERSATIONS MARQUEE.  The site of the marquee will be on your GRAPEVINE info sheet.
Gee, I could go on and on.
Spread the word about your wonderful festival and get all your friends and family to come along and have a great day together.
It’s all about Community
In other news . . . .
DAYBORO MARKET:  The markets are going strong with some new stalls this year.  Proceeds from the 2014 markets have been dispersed as follows:  $200 to Laps 4 Life;  $3250.00 to QIMR (Qld Institute of Medical Research);  and $1000.00 to Dayboro Churches Community Chest.  Our Market encourages visitors to our town who then frequent local businesses, and when they have such a lovely time, are keen to visit again and again each month.  The Market is also an opportunity for locals to sell their goods without having to venture too far from home.  The ultimate reward to the Dayboro Sunday Market is being able to provide much needed funds as already mentioned.
Fees for stalls are: $15 for a 3m x 3m site.
For more information, please contact Lexie 3425 2260 or Steve 3425 2456.
