Jun2013_ Women Walk the World
QCWA DAYBORO
The Dayboro Branch of the Queensland Country Women’s Assocation held a very successful fund raiser for “Women Walk the World” in Dayboro on Monday, 29 April 2013. The funds raised will be used by The Associated Country Women of the World toward continuing projects all around the world.
A group of our members, and members from the Samford Branch of QCWA, joined with quite a lot of townspeople to do the Heritage Walk around Dayboro. Many thanks to Carmel Bond from the Dayboro Historical Society for her informative talk at each site.
A big thank you to everyone for their donations and especially Nor-Pro Interior Linings for their sponsorship. All donations received will now be added to monies raised at the other CWA Branches throughout Queensland and Australia.
by Pamela Peters, President, QCWA Dayboro.
As part of the Heritage Week celebrations, Carmel guided our group of approximately 2 dozen. The walk commenced from the Dayboro Information Centre, then proceeded around town to the various Dayboro Heritage Trail interpretive markers, with Carmel Bond – from the Dayboro & District Historical Society – explaining interesting and informative historic facts about our lovely town of Dayboro. The walk concluded with morning tea provided by the CWA ladies in the Dayboro CWA rooms. Brochures are available from the Information Centre for self-guided tours around town.
Members of my family participating in the walk represented 4 generations of local Dayboro residents.
