AUSTRALIA’S BIGGEST MORNING TEA
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is celebrating its 20th year this year and, to date, has raised an incredible $110 million dollars towards research and programs to help fight cancer.
minister_dutton_from_april_07.jpgAs the Shadow Minister for Health and Ageing I had the pleasure of co-hosting the morning tea at Parliament House on the 29th of May.  Both the funds and the awareness these events create are an integral part of finding a cure for cancer.  If you would like to host a morning tea or find a local event close to you, visit the website:
 www.biggestmorningtea.com.au.
Alternatively, you can donate directly to the Cancer Council online. Cancer Council Australia works closely with the states and territories to fundraise much-needed money, to support patients and their families, as well as research to find the cause of cancer.
PETITION FOR SUPERFAST BROADBAND
This year, my state colleague, Seath Holswich MP, Member for Pine Rivers, and I launched a petition to rally the federal government to prioritise the business areas of Strathpine and Brendale for the roll out of super-fast broadband.  We recently met with local Brendale companies who are feeling the pressure caused by slow and inadequate internet connection.  If you would like to sign this petition, please contact my office on 3205 9977.
DAYBORO AND SAMFORD SHOWS
The time for our local shows has come around quickly this year.  Both the Dayboro and Samford Shows are great local events that bring people into our area, as well as bringing locals together.  As always, I will have a stall at both of the shows this year.  Please come and say hello when you walk past.
MEN’S HEALTH WEEK
Did you know that over 67% of Australian males over the age of 18 are overweight or obese?  Men’s Health Week aims to improve male health education to tackle the most important health issues relevant to men.  Men’s Health Week aims to develop health environments for men and boys through improvement of local services, schools and organisations. If you would like to attend one of the Men’s Health Week events, visit the website www.menshealthweek.org.au for further information.
