Hay Cottage refurbished and reopened

It is back to business as usual for Dayboro’s Hay Cottage arts and crafts group, after council’s recent injection of $50,000 into the refurbishment of the historical community facility.

Mayor Allan Sutherland said the major refurbishment works during the past month have included the major re-roofing from shingle to corrugated iron, repairs to the walls, refurbishment of the floor and rewiring electrical components.

“Historic Hay Cottage (circa1872), situated at Roderick Cruise Park, in Williams St, Dayboro was the former residence of Jane and Charles Hay,” Cr Sutherland said.

“Today the cottage is the property of Moreton Bay Regional Council, which leases it to the Hay Cottage Arts and Crafts Association, the longest established community arts and craft organisation in the Pine Rivers District.”

Hay Cottage is open seven days per week from 10am to 3pm.  For further information visit the council website www.moretonbay.qld.gov.au or phone 3425 1788.
