HAPPENINGS AT DAYBORO STATE SCHOOL Dec2009

The Member for Pine Rivers, Mrs Carolyn Male, attended our assembly on Wednesday 18th November to officially open our Multi Purpose Court which was refurbished at the start of the year with a grant from the Queensland Government.
The P & C formed a partnership with the Dayboro Dodgers Netball Club in 2008 to write a submission to enable the upgrade of the court. The successful grant application resulted in a contribution of $21, 400 from the State Government. This grant, combined with the $10,700 provided by the P & C Association and special school maintenance funds, has resulted in a first class facility, that is already very well used, in and out of school time.
School Watch
To ensure that Dayboro State School remains safe and protected over the 6 week Christmas holiday break, Dayboro Police are introducing a school watch program.  This program was endorsed by the P & C and we hope that with the help of the Dayboro Community our school grounds will remain safe during the upcoming holidays.  Certified Volunteers will be patrolling the grounds throughout the holidays and will report anything suspicious directly to the Dayboro Police.  We would like to thank Sergeant Ken Robinson and Constable Troy Notwitski for organising this very worthwhile project.
Dayboro Makes Learning Fun
In the past few weeks, a total of 10 interactive whiteboards or fixed projector & screen installations were completed across the campus, from Prep – Year 7.  These were funded by the National School Pride Project, Dayboro P&C Association and Dayboro Apex. This exciting new teaching and learning technology has been enthusiastically adopted by teachers and students.
Dayboro Wins Gold at Musicfest
Our Principal, Glynnis Gartside, was absolutely thrilled to be present at Musicfest at Iona College when the Dayboro State School Band won a gold award for their excellent performance. Congratulations to all the band members and Natalie Hollier, our Instrumental Music teacher. Their hard work and dedicated preparation for this event really paid off.  Thanks also to the parents of the music students, who have been right behind the band.  They looked wonderful in their revamped band uniforms with white shirts, black ties and black pants. Many parents attended the performance and gave their full support. It is always great to be in an audience with Dayboro families cheering their kids on.
Melbourne Cup Luncheon
Thanks to the support of the Dayboro Community and surrounding areas our Melbourne Cup Day function was bigger and better than ever.  We would also like to thank the Dayboro Football Club for donating the use of their clubhouse again this year.  With over 100 guests in attendance we made sure there was plenty to keep them amused.  Fashion Essentials put on a fabulous fashion parade and our models did us proud.  Thanks Angie, Katherine, Amanda, Esther and Charlotte – we hope to see you back again next year.  We had sweeps, raffles, competitions, a trivia quiz, horsey bingo and of course we watched the BIG race on the television.  The guys and gals in the kitchen did a fabulous job and the meal was just beautiful.  There were soooo many people involved in making this day the success it was and I would like to thank each and every one of you.  A day like this couldn’t happen without your support.  Next year we hope to hold this function in our very own hall.
BER (Building the Education Revolution) PROJECT
You may have noticed the work being carried out up at the school.  The building of our new hall and state of the art library facility has finally begun.  This is a very exciting time for everyone at school and when finished will greatly enhance the facilities at our school.
Merry Christmas

On behalf of everyone at the Dayboro State School I would like to wish you all a very merry Christmas and hope that 2010 brings lots of fun times and memories that you will treasure forever.

Regards,
Helen Rhue,
President, Dayboro P&C Association.
