GALLERY NEWS April 09
Dayboro Community Art Gallery is open every day of the week, 10am – 3pm.
The Annual General Meeting for the Gallery was held on Sunday, 1 March 2009.
Mr Robert Bradfield, Ph: 3425 3449 was elected President; Elaine Holmes was elected Vice-President; Joanne McGill maintained the position of Treasurer; Judy Midgely was elected Secretary. I, Katrina Stirling, maintained the position of Publicity Officer for the Gallery and 3 Gallery Conveners were elected – Joan Gerry, Lorraine Emmerson and John Good.
As this edition goes to the printers, the members of the Art Gallery were gearing up for the Inaugural Dayboro Art Exhibition to be held on March 27 – 29 and run by the Dayboro State School P&C to raise money for the school.
Various members of the Gallery have been participating in the lead up to this exhibition, some have been working with the students in their classrooms to create wonderful art works, while other members have been working with the P&C members on the physical set-up side of things.
The Dayboro Community Art Gallery’s newly elected president, Robert Bradfield (pictured at left), was also the gallery’s Artist of the Month for March.
From now until the end of April, visitors to the gallery can view a featured selection of Robert’s work. Robert draws inspiration from his surroundings, as evident in his intricately detailed paintings which capture our beautiful Australian landscape and country lifestyle.
“There is nothing better than to experience the joy of painting on location,” he says.
Robert has enjoyed art for many years, although it wasn’t until later in life that he started to take painting more seriously, when he proceeded to win a number of awards at local art shows in South-East Queensland.
Describing himself as “self-taught” with no formal training, Robert continues to sell his work both locally and internationally.
