Anzac Day School’s Awards 2009
The 2009 Anzac Day school’s Awards is an exciting competition that encourages students to learn about Anzac Day and why veterans are commemorated on this special day. Schools can enter as an individual class or a whole school.
Prize money will be awarded to a national primary and national secondary school, state primary and state secondary school and special category winners. Entries close on Friday 22 May 2009. For further information visit www.dva.gov.au/commemorations/education/awards_competitions
National Families Week 2009
The 7th National Families Week will be held between 10th and 16th May. The central aim of the Week is to encourage all Australians to think about and celebrate the many different people who make families united and strong and the many different types of families across society. The theme is National Families Week – Celebrate how everyone makes a difference. For ideas on how you can participate or to register an event go to www.familiesaustralia.org.au or call 02 6273 4885.
2009 National Disability Awards
The National Disability Awards celebrate and acknowledge the contributions and achievements individuals with a disability make to our community, and recognise individuals who have contributed to the disability sector. There are five categories and finalists will be recognised at an Awards Ceremony in Canberra on November 23 2009. Nominations close Friday 22 May 2009. Kurwongbah State School Fete
On Sunday 24 May Kurwongbah State School will celebrate its bi-annual fete with rides, stalls and games offering a great day out for the whole family. A highlight of the day will be the celebrity auction featuring memorabilia from many famous figures. The event is at the school in Eacham Street Petrie starting at 10am and concluding at 3pm.
