ADVERTISING RATES – INCREASING IN 2013:
We have kept our advertising rates the same since 1996, but must increase them from the beginning of 2013.  In the interests of lessening the impact on our advertisers, the increase will be kept as low as possible.  If considering paying in advance to lock in the old prices, you need to act quickly.
OUR NEW BRIDGE
Our new bridge in Williams Street will have been “officially opened” before this edition reaches you.
Prior to this opening we had a series of severe thunderstorms that, I’ve been told, brought approximately 70mm of rainfall prior to the Sunday afternoon.  Of particular concern to the businesses located nearby was the water level rising to within 1cm of the top of the creek’s “walls”.  The water then didn’t escape very quickly, leaving it looking like a large pool in what is left of Lions Park.
Did the experts get it right? OR
Do we now have a much smaller park;  seamless transition between street and bridge and extra parking spaces . . . . but still the flooding issue?
At least we don’t have buses and trucks playing ‘chicken’ as happened with the much narrower former bridge.
